Shweshwe is the enchanting cotton fabric from South Africa that was used for traditional Sotho (South Africa & Lesotho) clothing, but is also known today as “Denim of South Africa” because of its timeless popularity. It combines bold colors with filigree designs. Shweshwe fabrics are now manufactured exclusively by the British-South African company Da Gama-Textiles in Zwelitsha in South Africa’s Eastern Cape and are produced using the traditional ‘Blue Print’ copper roller process, just as they used to be
